I come up of making this blog post because of Cindy's recent column in FEU Advocate. But take note, this aint a hate post to the writer but I'll be tackling a certain topic that was mentioned there. So to understand what Im talking about, kindly read Cindy's column, okey? :)
Her column was about our school's high school superstar who's reported to change his colors from green-and-gold to blue and white. Well, if you're familiar to UAAP, you'll probably get this. The kid actually expressed earlier that he would like to stay with FEU because of "loyalty" then few weeks later, a news erupted that he's set to change his path from Morayta to Loyola. At first (well up to now) I don't believe those reports that he's Katipunan-bound. I was like "Hello? I cant imagine him wearing those colors. And besides, it's just an issue!" The next day, his dad told the media that his son is set to play for his current's school rival for college. Few reports have circulated and then the kid already opened his side and said that he has to make a decision, and beside's he's still in high school.
Bottomline, parent's decision vs son's decision. Based on Cindy's column "It was reported that he had already signed a contract with our University but then again, another deal was made by his father, who actually has the right to do it since his son is not yet 18 years old." If I were JMP (the kid), I wouldn't let my dad speak in my behalf it would be different on what I have said or earlier decided. Sorry if it sounds rebellious but his father must respect on what JMP wants. Yes, he's just 17 years old and still a minor, but it doesn't mean that he would be taking over his son's decision especially in his career. Even a 6-year-old kid already knows what he wanted to be in the future, why can't he trust his son who will be turning 18 soon? Am I to diagnose them with Impaired Parenting? Just kidding. Sorry for making this a big issue but I can't let this pass. Where's the freedom here? (Im talking about freedom in having what you want in life) If I were JMP, I would stand for what I want. Later on, I might regret for letting the chance to slip away on my hands. Let's face it, JMP will be in a win-win situation. He'll be a part of the country's top university and well known basketball team, then who knows? He might be knows as this generation's superstar. But in his high school alma mater, he'll be remembered as someone who doesn't keep his words and a person who doesn't know what loyalty is.
At an early age, kids must be involved in family's decision making though it's just a petty matter or not. In this case, kids can practice how to man their lives and speak up their mind to their parents, as well as developing their mental maturity. I admit that I was raised as someone like this. At 5, my grandma asked me about the new boarding house that she wants to put up, and I said yes. So after that, I gave her reasons why it is a big yes for me. And as the time goes on, Lola- together with Nanay, Mommy and even my Dad- always ask me about my stand about a certain issue and my reaction on their decisions. Well Im proud that they do consider my point and respect it wholeheartedly. Their trust in me we're immeasurable. Maybe because I turned out to be a young woman who knows what she wants, what she stands and believes in, and someone who'll kick every bad people's butts if they'll plan to mess up with the things I planned. In return to what I did for them, they support me all the way because they know that I know what is right for me. They still do their obligations as parents-- to remind me about the things that I might have forgot and continue to empower me whenever I feel down. I hope that all parents were like them. I might not have the perfect family, but I have the perfect people who raised me as a complete person. Take note, all my life, Mommy and Papa we're not by my side while growing up, but still, they have a large percentage when it comes to parenting. It was Nanay and Lola who mainly supervised me all the way.
Sometimes, we have to be rebellious when our 'rents we're holding our necks too tight. We're not dogs, we're humans, and we have our own will. As children, don't be afraid to speak out your mind, who knows, you have the best-est decision that your parents haven't heard in their whole life. Yes, be positive! Your parents won't eat you alive when you have to utter something. No matter what, it's our parents' obligation to stick with us through good and difficult times then give the proper guidance we need. "Proper guidance." They don't have to declare Martial Law anyway. They will give us the understanding and the support that they need. As their children, we must give back to them, like respecting and loving them, be a good son/daughter, do well in school (and in life too!), and demonstrate to them that we're capable in standing up to our decisions. For me, the greatest tool for a harmonious relationship of parents and children is communication. Okay, you can supply the most appropriate adjective for communication :P I mean, how will the two parties know about each others' wants if they wont talk and communicate? Makes sense right? So going back to my argument in the second paragraph that "I wouldn't let my dad speak in my behalf it would be different on what I have said or earlier decided," I will still stick to it. But, before my dad do it, we must talk about it hundreds of times, but if we won't agree to what I have decided, I'll do everything to convince him and lay his 1000% support before I let him speak for me.
Sorry again for being such a weird thinker, I just want to express my thoughts here. We're born free and we are the highest form of animals, so why they suppress us? Not a rebellious daughter here, just a free and modern day thinker ;)

Of rants and sudden burst of critical thinking
Last Sunday, I just grabbed Slam Magazine's latest ish where Terrence Romeo's name was on the cover. Actually, I wasn't planning to buy magazines since my rack's already full. HAHA. It was Justine who told me that Romeo's featured there, and since I'm an ex-Juliet (I'll just tell you the story later), I was kinda interested on what's there.
As I browsed the magazine, I first came across June Mar Fajardo's article, read some lines there then proceed on the TR article. The moment I saw the first 2 pages, which contain his picture and a huge title, I was like "Wow, nagpa-interview sya dito tapos samin eh picture lang, ayaw pa na." I turned on the next page and kinda shocked that the article's writer and I share the same fate of not being replied by Romeo. "Really? Di rin sya nag-reply? Nakakahiya naman ganung ugali. You already agreed on the interview tapos biglang waley?" Then, the writer just interviewed key people that could say something about the 20-year old combo guard, which include Coach Bert, Coach Magtulis, and Mike Tolomia. I really liked the angle of the story. It's like it indirectly answered Romeo's ball-keeping attitude (Sorry, I really can't say bwakaw, or ball-hogger). Actually, it's kinda hard topic, that I, myself, can't even ask other people that "Is Romeo a selfish ball distributor? (Uhh? magulo Lhea. Where's the sense?)
Going back, Coach Bert is a person that will honestly tell you what's wrong on this kid since he's aware that TR has this thing called "shoulder fake-head fake-with hair swaying move-plus-I-can-do-this-all-by-myself-and-shoot-the-ball-without-sharing-to-my-teammates disease. Sorry for being harsh guys especially to some of his fans that might be able to read this. TR has an incredible talent, I know we all agree. He's also hardworking when it comes to taking time to practice his shooting (Someone from R.Papa told me this before and I have seen him before practicing even in the dark. Yeah, srsly). But he has to learn that he doesn't have to carry the burden single-handedly. There are 4 other guys, waiting for the ball he's going to distribute and facilitate, that will take that magical shot. And there's also a concept of 24-seconds that will let you plan and get that right timing to bury that dagger into your opponent's throat, and not throwing the ball freely like the one's in the arcade.
On the other hand, as a schoolmate, Im happy on what he achieved this year, especially being a part of the Mythical 5. Being one takes a lot hardwork from the start of the season til the end. We've seen how FEU rose above the seven other schools with that 4-0 record. That's already something. He was a hero in every game that he played, with long-dropping triples, defense-slashing drives, cat-quick hands that swiped every ball off an opponent, a sprinter-like fastbreaks and his signature shoulder fake-head fake-then- stepback jumpers that can make any girl go crazy seeing his nearly angelic face, lazy eyes and Son Goku-like hairstyle that he nourished for more that 3 months. (Phew! that was looooong!) I can't imagine FEU sans Romeo during their crucial first three games in Season 73. As some sports writers and Coach Bert said "It could have been 0-3, not 3-0." But how about FEU without RR Garcia? Well, more unimaginable (for me). Garcia suffered from an ankle injury from a practice before the season. With that incident, Garcia had a lesser time on court and gave Romeo more time to take charge as one of the veterans. As some UAAP fanatics observed, TR and RR doesn't seem to have that balanced pH, in short, chemistry. Whenever they are on the floor together (IDK who assumes the 1 and 2), they simply don't pass the ball on each other. (Guuuuuys? This is not an arcaaade). I have seen it a lot of times already, even last year. Well, it's just this time that it's more evident. But there are those times that when they share it, it was like a nuclear bomb that can wreck the whole arena. During FEU vs NU Game (Sept 2), Garcia dished the ball on Romeo in the left wing, then shoots a triple that gave them a 2-point edge. Well, that game might not be counted as a win (Hello Technical Committee!), but it's SOMETHING. Something that not everyone witnessed. Another one was their KO game against DLSU. FEU was 7 points behind the Taft-based team and 38 seconds' left in the game clock. Everyone from the Morayta side wished for a miracle, until Garcia passed the ball on Romeo and knocked a triple, then Garcia stole the ball from DLSU's possession and dropped a three pointer that left the other team in a one-point advantage with 30 secs left. Yes, six points in 8 seconds. Magical, doesn't it? Yet, it was a sorry loss for FEU since it was the first time they were kicked out of the Final 4 in 5 years. Oops, I still have another one in my sleeves! Well, this time, FEU won their first cardiac game in the season. Less than 20 seconds left in the fourth quarter, UST's possession, and up by 1 point. The Tigers need to shoot that one last shot to run away their first game. Jeric Fortuna carefully dribbles the ball, inspecting the area and switches his attention to his coach, waiting for his signal to drive the ball. As his attention focused on his mentor, he forgot what he has in his right hand. It was the perfect timing for Romeo to swipe the ball, pass it to the running Tolomia and to Garcia who was waiting to make the finishing touches. And the ball safely entered the ring with 7 seconds remaining. And FEU's up by 1! UST wasted no time and made a fast play with Mariano on the downtown and missed the big shot when the time expired.
Garcia's fate next year is still undetermined, whether he'll stay or embark a new journey in the pros. Whatever happens, it will be Romeo who is expected to take over the floor general title. But in that time, Romeo has to change, for the his own good and for the better of everyone. Talent? No doubts. Confidence? More improved this time around. So lemme switch on the other side of my rants. I know TR is a nice guy, well, according to Joshua. HAHA. But seriously, he's good. I've talked to him a lot of times already, have picture with him, etc. He also do some simple efforts to other people in his simple way (like texting someone to alleviate his/her feelings [im a living proof to that. haha]).
Actually, I've been texting him since last month for my work-related assignment (thanks to JE for his number) and he doesn't reply. Joshua already warned me that recently, he's not into interviews (Actually, it's just for a photoshoot!). Then last sembreak, I had some few trips to R.Papa Gym, hoping to catch him there and talk about the shoot. But unluckily, I wasn't able to see even a shadow of him. Last Friday, I went back to the gym with Armen and Justine. Good thing, I met Coach Jo and told him why I'm looking for the kid. We patiently waited outside, hoping to talk to him that time around but we just wasted our time. I went back to the campus and met Russel and Mac. So I talked to them and ask where can I find TR. RE offered me to join them going to their Dean's office since TR's currently enrolling, and finally get a chance to meet him after 1 month of searching him. Side story: I cant help but laugh when we reached EB 8th floor. A lot of young girls are screaming when they saw the 2 tall guys I'm with, haha. So I just waited on the side and called by RE "Lhea, tara pasok na tayo. Nasa loob sya" "Uy, di ako pwede dyan, IN ako eh. Sabihan mo na lang sya" Then he entered the room and returned after 3 minutes. "Hintayin mo na lang daw sya sa gym after. Text mo nalang sya." Me: "Uy, seryoso yan ha. Sabihin mo mag-reply sya. Kung hindi, iiscalpelin ko sya, now na." And he terribly laughed while cameras are clicking at the background. After that, I went back in the office and after 30 minutes, someone saw TR outside. So I hurriedly called Justine to run after him then he just said "Enrolment eh, busy ako". And the moment I hear it from Justine, I just bowed my head and said, I give up. But wait, I still have other pending papers! haha :)

Final 1st semester
Sabihin ko man na kalmado, positive and chill ako these past few days, pero tonight, kinakabahan na ako para bukas.
Lemme assess 1st semester
Lemme assess 1st semester
- Busy sa research. Trust me, di kami makaka-1.25 kung di namin pinaghirapan yun. We failed 4 times and yet tumayo kami more than 5 times.
- Skipped NOL sessions. Bagong balita ba yan?
- Skipped NCI-NCA classes.
- Better grades in NCM concepts 2 and 4. Yes, di na sya palakol o buntis gaya nung 1st sem last year.
- A lot more sensitive because of Elective. Oh yeaah! Yan ang subject na lagi akong pinapaiyak.
- Ngarag sa duty lalo na sa NRMF. Swear, basag bungo ko sa medicine computation.
- Coverage. After game, pasa agad.
- Lumuluwag na turnilyo sa RLE. HAHAHA.
1st year 1st sem: Zeke. 2nd year 1st sem: TR. 3rd year 1st sem: Joshua. 4th year 1st sem: ???.. Well, pwede na ring si (deleted 2017) bilang madalas kaming magkasama ulit. HAHAHA. Joke lang. Pero si Joshua talaga eh. Pasulpot-sulpot sya. Pero dumarating sya sa panahong down ako tapos pag nagkausap kami, biglang shoot up ang grades/quizzes/exams ko gaya ng hina-highblood na tao! Yun pala yun eh.
What went wrong?
SRSLY? mas mataas pa sakin yung di pumapasok?
- NCM.
- THESIS: masyadong nagfocus? pati ibang obligasyon nawala?
- 14 units. IKAKAMATAY KO TO!
Anlaking difference diba?
Gaya nga ng sabi ni Ate Chin. THINK POSITIVE! :)

Absences
Yes, I'm very particular with my absences for this year. Actually, nung 3rd year-1st sem, once lang ako umabsent (Ethics, Humanities, Rizal, all in one day) dahil sa FEU-Adamson Semis Game 1.
NCM
1st day of classes pa lang eh wala na ko dito kasi tinamad ako bumangon. HAHA. Gandang rason diba? So natulog na lang talaga ako nun. :)
Elective
Same din with NCM. Dalawa lang kasi subject ko nung 1st day eh :)
NCI
Umabsent ako dito dahil sa FEU vs Adamson game last week.
Waaaaah.
NOL
Kailangan pa bang isama to? Ayun, as usual eh lagi akong wala dito. Pero sorry na lang, 3 lang absent ko dito, out of 6 :))))
--Sorry na, napakatamad ko yatang bata. Di na ko papasobra ng absent dyan. SWEAR! :)

Kinda, umm definitely, or maybe certainly
I was actually reading some articles in a known sports website and came across to an article made by an FEU correspondent. Since his article is about FEU (but of course!), I easily clicked to read it. And after that I was satisfied with the infos that I got, but not its composition.
I really have a keen eye on errors and corrections. It's a natural thing since I'm a writer and I need to check mine and our section's articles too. Tito June Ace was the one who taught me about these things, and up to now, I'm still learning from him.
The moment that I read the article all over again, I got to see some redundances, inconsistencies, missed letters and incomplete thoughts. At some point, he's also text speaking (like making "yung" to "ung"). He also didn't follow some basic rules in writing, like hyphens and commas. I was wondering whether his editor checked his work or not, or maybe they just let it that way, showing what the writer has originally typed.
Honestly, I'm kinda, umm definitely, or maybe certainly not happy. I don't require him to ask help from me or from anyone else, but before doing such write-up in a website like that, you need to make sure that every little thing that you put there must be correct. I hope he read some online articles first before he wrote, atleast he has the idea and the technique. I'm not a perfect writer, I have problems with grammar but I still make it to the point that I always read to enhance my writing and correct my errors.
There's still a room for improvements. This may be his first time to make such an article, umm, not really an article, but a kind of blog entry, so I guess I'll just let this pass. Not everyone can be good in 2 skills, someone might be good in reporting rather than writing or vice versa.
---
Oh! Another info, I also tried to be a correspondent for that website. Actually, when I auditioned, we were asked to report and make our own script. Unluckily, I was not chosen. Haha, though I'm fond of talking, well, reporting may not be for me. I think, I belong to public speaking or debating. HAHA. And aside from that, my spiel sounds like an article. The last time I made a script for sports reporting was during our Speech class in my sophomore year. But that was a different thing since my script was just plainly a report, not a play-by-play one. Haha, oh! Don't get me wrong guys. :)

Of disappointments
Last week seemed to be the most disappointing week of my life. Thing didn't go well especially in my academics. Yes, I got zero on my Medical Calculation practical quiz, and got 50 on the other one. I'm afraid that I might have a Revalida before the end of the sem.
What went wrong?
Well actually, I chose to sleep rather than to review. I prioritized my physiological need rather than the other one. I took things too lightly, maybe because I think it's easy. I don't usually fail in our skills lab, which seems to be my forte even before (exclude Health Assessment here). I think, maybe because of the type of practical exam why I failed. Well, I think so. I just need to bounce back next week. I dont wanna be late again or to have a failing grade. I will do my best this time. Swear!
I will also study my lessons on NCA, I will not take it for granted again. I'll prioritize my obligations well.
----
Come Friday, everything's changed. I was really enthusiasted in our new concept in NCM which is Communicable Disease. Our professor described herself as a terror teacher, but I dont see her like that. Maybe she just wanted us to do our best and study more in her concept. She did asked a lot of questions during the start of classes, and me being the "best in recitation" kid (hahaha, no doubt!), I always raise my hand and answer her. She gets irritated when everytime she throws new questions, and no one raises their hands, except mine. :)
HAHA. I hope I'll have good grades in her concept :D

And yes, I missed blogging here!
